EDSF AWARDS GRANTS FOR THREE CO-BRANDED

INDUSTRY RESEARCH PROJECTS

 Research Firm/Academic Institution Teams

Produce Valuable Data and Identify Actionable Trends

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. U.S.A.  (May 3, 2006) – The Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF) announced the grant recipients for its highly regarded co-branded research projects. The program, in its third year, combines leading-industry research firms with academic institutions to provide studies of interest to the industry.  The participating academic institutions receive grants while the research firms generously donate their expertise, time and energy. Past projects have yielded useful information on issues such as trends in document management and communications, supplier perceptions of the market, and delivering printed information in the financial services industry.

“We are very fortunate to have some of the leading analysts in the industry working with universities to conduct this research,” said Kenneth Morris, Ph.D., EDSF vice chair of research. “For the third year, the research findings will be helping companies plan for future document management and communications requirements.”

The three co-branded research grants continue to highlight the dramatic change that is occurring within the world of document management and communications and the challenges organizations face as they strive to incorporate the latest technology to improve business results. The research includes:

Document Communications Industry Trends – 2006

Doculabs and the Center for Research in Information Management (CRIM) at the University of Illinois at Chicago will conduct a study focusing on the document market from a buyer’s perspective. Buyer market trends and key issues will be reviewed in this white paper.

Criticality of Printed Information in the Retail Industry

Gartner Group and George Mason University will identify the attitudes of business managers in the retail industry and examine how they relate to printing as part of the business process.

Supplier and Service Provider Priorities – 2006

InfoTrends and Clemson University will conduct joint research that highlights perceptions of document suppliers and service providers. The study compares how both groups view sales projections, marketing efforts, digital color, mailing initiatives and much more.

The completed research, due to be released in the second and third quarter of 2006, will be available free from the EDSF.org web site.

At the AIIM & ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition, three research analysts will discuss their projects at “Tracking Trends:  An EDSF Market Research Update” on Thursday, May 18th, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. Attendees will receive copies of the studies when available.

In addition, EDSF is planning webinars in the early fall to discuss the research results.
