Scholarship Honors High Volume Transaction Output (HVTO) Industry Pioneer

ROLLING HILLS, Calif. and HOUSTON, Tex. U.S.A.  (Feb. 28, 2006) ---
The Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF) today announced a new annual scholarship honoring Dr. Aurel Zajta, a world-renowned mathematician who has provided tremendous technical resources to vendors and users in the high volume transaction output (HVTO) industry. The scholarship will be funded by OutputLinks and COPI while EDSF, the non-profit organization dedicated to the document management and communications marketplace, will administer the Dr. Aurel Zajta Scholarship Fund. OutputLinks is the information and research resource of the high volume transaction output (HVTO) and COPI is a global provider of technology solutions to the high volume computer output industry.

“EDSF is proud to join OutputLinks and COPI in honoring Dr. Zajta for his outstanding contributions to the document management and communications industry,” said Jeanne Mowlds, EDSF Executive Director. “The Dr. Aurel Zajta Scholarship Fund is a welcome addition to our ongoing outreach program dedicated to preparing students for rewarding careers in the industry.”

“Dr. Zajta has been a valued contributor to COPI for more than 20 years,” said Andy and Julie Plata of COPI and OutputLinks. “His insightful programming and mathematical skills have helped transform the transaction output industry. It’s been a privilege to work with him.”

For the Dr. Aurel Zajta Scholarship Fund, OutputLinks and COPI will provide an annual $1,000 contribution to a doctorate, graduate or undergraduate student involved in mathematics based-studies relating to the graphic arts, font, print, or internet-related subjects. Preference will be given to University of Houston students.

“I’m honored that my name will be associated with a scholarship that holds so much hope for the future,” said Zajta. “This is an exciting time and I’m pleased that my contributions have been helpful.”

Born in Hungary, Zajta is a software engineer and mathematician and author of two books and numerous articles in scientific journals. After teaching in Kenya and Brazil, he came to the University of Houston and made his home in Texas. For the past 20 years, he has served as senior software engineer and consultant at COPI. Zajta is particularly well known for his conversion and utility programs for the electronic printing industry.
