2001 David Hoods Memorial Scholarship

"The David Hoods Memorial Scholarship is an investment of resources that not only helps me realize my dreams but also validates the hard work, risk and wisdom that characterizes success."

Ken has recently transferred to the University of California Berkeley campus from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA to continue his studies in mass communications education. He plans to earn a doctorate degree and develop a career in graphic design and teaching at the elementary level. Under his stewardship, the Southwestern College student newspaper has won 53 national awards for design excellence and Mr. Pagano, himself, has been recognized numerous times for his design talents.

Christina exemplifies the scholarship profile that best honors the memory of David Hoods. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications with a concentration in public relations and a certificate in marketing from the Business College. Her 4.0 GPA puts her on the dean's list, and memberships include the Public Relations Student Society of America, International Association of Business Communicators and the American Scholars National Honor Society. Hands-on learning at Neles Automation SCADA Solutions provided online document systems experience.

Heather Rodgers, winner of the 1999 David Hoods Memorial Scholarship, offers impressive credentials for a future in electronic document communications. A junior at California Polytechnic State University, she has explored a wide range of academic experiences through the school's document-focused curriculum. "I am pursuing the concentration of Electronic Publishing and Imaging," she said, "and will enter the work force ready with all the skills I have been prepared to use."
