TORRANCE, Calif., (June 5, 2001)-The Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF), the only non-profit organization dedicated to document communications, today announced its new strategy for research, continuing education and recruitment programs through the support of leading companies in the industry. The announcement marks significant new support for EDSF and its mission among industry leaders.

"EDSF is a powerful organization made up of forward-thinking and competitive minds coming together for an industry," said Jeanne Mowlds, EDSF executive director. "We're not only growing the document communication business well beyond the dollar value, but also providing immeasurable resources through education and research initiatives for the industry and public at large. At the heart of the Foundation's mission are efforts to ensure that the document industry has the talent it needs to survive, grow and excel in this dynamic world."

EDSF, founded in 1996, is a nonprofit, industry-supported organization dedicated to enhancing the value of document communications. This mission is achieved by creating a base of knowledge, sponsoring academic-based research, fostering education and professionalism, recognizing innovation and leadership and building a community of interest to benefit document creators and users.

The foundation is led by a Board of Directors composed of industry and academic leaders, as well as an advisory board of EDSF executives. EDSF industry-supporting programs include:

  • Excellence in Education Awards program for outstanding academic programs.
  • EDSF internship program providing students with hands-on experience with document vendors and industry professionals.
  • Continuing education programs for industry professionals, including summer school programs and executive summits.
  • Research studies on current industry trends and technology, like "Printing in the Age of the WEB & Beyond," a report exploring the future of print and its methodology by analyzing more than 100 print products and document communication tactics.
